Hinder - Take it to the limit
I was never a huge fan of Hinder when "Lips of an Angel" could be heard all over the radio. They were far from meeting my standards of what good music should be.
They have finally found their way into my personal playlist with their new album "Take it to the Limit."
Though Hinder's new album is still not my all time favorite album, and some of their songs are not that great, I find myself listening to other songs, like "Use Me," "Loaded and Alone," and "Up All Night," on repeat just for the great beat. Many of the songs on this album have that beat and rhythm that just makes you want to move. Catchy lyrics infect the brain and before long you're singing along at the top of your lungs - "so far from sober that I'll have to sleep through my hangover (Up All Night)."
Hinder has a new hit album on their hands, and this time they have at least one new fan.
Funeral for a friend - Memory and humanity
They may not be one of this girl's favorite bands but I still have to give Funeral for a Friend credit for putting together a great album.
Memory and Humanity, released October 2008, has an impressive sound displaying F4AF's apt musical abilities that I wrote off until now. The combination of great lyrics, a singer that fits their sound, and an amazing score can produce nothing less than a hit in my book.
The best track in this album seems to be "To Die Like Mouchette", but I have to say that "Building" is my person favorite. "Building," a slower song that sounds more like a ballad, is just one of those songs that makes you want to stop whatever it is you are doing to sit and listen. It has perhaps the best lyrics on this album.
Regardless of any overall views of the album being quite good, there is one weak link. "Kicking and Screaming" has to be the worst song on the CD. There seems to be something lacking in its lyrics and score making the song weak at best.
F4AF may not be one of my favorite bands but after listening to Memory and Humanity (many times) they have most definitely made it into my playlist.
