The Office of International Programs and Services has an exciting spring and summer planned for RMU students who want to study abroad.

From March through June, students will have the opportunity to go on eight different excursions across the world. Each of these trips is faculty-led and range in time from one to two weeks.

"Studying abroad is a great experience. It is something many companies are now looking for in employees. It changes students when they go abroad and it teaches them to deal with many things," said Coordinator of International Documentation and Study Abroad, Dianne Jackson. "Overall, it gives students a much broader experience."

Seven out of the eight trips include a RMU course that can be included in spring tuition. The course type varies depending on the trip, but there are enough choices to fit almost anyone.

"This is the first year we are offering a course in the spring with the trip leaving in the summer," said Jackson. "It really defrays the cost because students will not need to pay summer tuition in addition to the trip cost."

The earliest trip is during spring break, Mar 7-13, when students will to traveling to London, England. This excursion is targeted towards English majors and minors, but it available for anyone. There is no specific course being offered during this trip, but it could be of interest to students taking any literature or humanities class. The total cost of the trip is $1,850 and includes airfare, hotel accommodations, breakfasts and a "London Pass." Scholarships are also being offered for English majors and minors for this trip.

The next trip leaves May 11 and will be headed to Switzerland and France. This trip will offer a cultural hospitality course that focuses on the psychology of leisure. The total cost of the trip is $2,800, including tuition, airfare, accommodations, ground transportation and other excursions.

For the first time, a trip to Israel is planned from May 12-24. This trip includes a political science class and will focus on the interconnections of religion and politics. The trip cost is $3,500, but there is a $1,000 scholarship being offered for the first 15 students who sign up.
