Following the elimination of the disposable carry-out containers, a spike in the number of missing dishes was noticed by the staff. It is expected, with the start of this program, that the amount of china being removed without authorization from The Food Court will be reduced.
At the end of last semester, "amnesty boxes" were placed in the dorms and around campus and a significant amount of the dishes and silverware were returned.
Starting last fall, the University Dinning Services began to offer a reusable beverage container. The bottle, sporting the RMU logo, is made from sturdy eco-friendly plastic and retails for $15.99. The bottle is good for a .25ยข discount off fountain drinks at any University eatery or as a substitute for a 22 oz. beverage in Food Court Value Meals.
Romo's Café has also eliminated Styrofoam carry-out containers and has gone to using paper products.
No other plans for eco-friendly products are being planned at this time.
