Senior guard Angela Pace, a member of the Robert Morris University women's basketball team, was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season on Jan. 9.

The Westchester, New York native received the other two honors earlier this season against Akron and Stony Brook (Nov.19 and 21), and Duquesne (Dec. 4).

Pace nearly averaged a triple-double over a two-game stretch, averaging 21.5 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in wins at Long Island University and St. Francis (N.Y.), according to Robert Morris University Athletics.

Pace opened her weekend by tallying her second double-double of the season and the third of her career by tallying 19 points and 16 rebounds in an 11-point win over the Long Island Blackbirds. She added six assists while going 8-for-19 from the field, as reported by RMU Athletics.

The senior point guard followed that up with another double-double - an unconventional one - by tallying career-highs for points (24) and assists (12) as the Robert Morris Colonials routed the St. Francis (N.Y.) Terriers, 87-60, to improve to 4-0 in NEC play for just the fourth time in team history. Pace tacked on six rebounds while knocking down 10-of-16 attempts. She also accounted for four steals and a block, as stated on the Northeast Conference website.

When asked about how she felt about her accomplishments and recognition this season, Pace responded humbly.

"It's great because it keeps me motivated to keep giving 100 percent during every game and that is my plan for the rest of the season," she said.

Pace's Head Coach, Sal Buscaglia, responded to her recognition.

"I think that she is well deserved of the honor," he said when asked about how he felt about Pace winning her third Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week recognition.

Buscaglia continued showing his support for Pace's achievements by speaking on where she may be in her future.

"If she continues to play at this level, I think that she has a chance of being player of the year. I think Angie can play at the highest level of women's basketball," Buscaglia concluded.

Buscaglia also agreed with what Assistant Coach, Kyle Hejmowski, had to say about Pace's standout behavior this year.

"I think she is the best player in the league," said Hejmowski. "She plays 40 minutes, she's had injuries in the past but has pulled through; she is just having an unbelievable year."
