"When he plays that way our team has a tremendous amount of confidence and that translates into success. I was very proud of his performance. "

His performances earned him the INCH National Player of the Week as well as the CHA Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Two other Colonials also picked up CHA honors for their performance that weekend. Denny Urban earned Offensive Player of the Week, his third honor this season. Urban has one goal and two assists, including an unassisted game winning goal during the second game of the home and home series. Stefan Salituro earned the Rookie of the Week honors, allowing the Colonials to sweep all the weekly awards.

"Denny, Brooks, and Stefan were all a part of a tremendous team effort. They produced some great plays that were instrumental in our team's wins against Miami," Schooley acknowledged.

Sure, playing the number one ranked team in the college hockey was a major challenge, and beating them twice was an impressive accomplishment. But the challenge isn't over. That weekend, they put it all together. Now the challenge is to sustain it.
So far, the momentum seems to be carrying over.

The Colonials swept rival Alabama-Hunstville the following weekend in two games in front of standing-room only crowds at the RMU Island Sports Complex. This past weekend, though, saw the team's first hiccup since the Miami games as the Colonials traveled to face Colgate and were able to come away with just a tie in the second game after they lost the first contest 4-1.

Despite the small setback, the team is optimistic that the energy created by their upset of the nation's top-ranked team will carry them through the closing stretch of the season and able them to finish much more strongly than their season began.

"We need to play with the passion and intensity that we played with that weekend," concluded Schooley. "We proved we can play at this level and now it's time to do it every weekend."
