The directors of the Robert Morris University Doctoral Program will host a recruiting reception in Washington D.C. later today.
The reception is for students who are from the nation's capital and are interested in being enrolled as a student in Robert Morris's Doctorate of Science program.
"A majority of the people who apply to our Doctoral Program are from the Washington D.C. area, so for the past four or five years we have been hosting a reception in D.C.," said the Graduate Enrollment Manager of Doctoral Programs, Marina Frazier.
David Wood, associate dean of the school of communications and information systems, claimed that the Doctoral Program is one of the most important reasons why Robert Morris is a university today.
"The Doctoral Program is one of the biggest reasons why we were able to move from a college to a university," claimed Wood.
Frazier also said that they pay strict attention to what regions their applicants are from, and if they had a strong basis in another area of the country they would be willing to move the reception's location.
Allowing this event to be held in Washington D.C. helps those applicants attending to avoid leaving their jobs for the day or the weekend.
"We have a lot of government officials, diplomats, presidents of banks, and CEOs of large companies from the D.C. area who enroll in our program," said Frazier.
Robert Morris University has a lot to offer students looking to enroll in the Doctoral Program.
"Having a Doctoral Program shows that we [Robert Morris University] are serious. To see that we have graduates, undergraduates, and buildings is a positive. Plus, the airport being so close makes it convenient for people from all over the world to be here," said Wood.
Those attending will hear introductions from the program directors, Dr. Fred Kohun and Dr. Dan Roth. In addition to the directors speaking, current students and alumni are invited to address the room on their experiences, and a power point presentation of the program is shown.
