Saturday's match against the Quinnipiac Bobcats, however, wasn't as dominate. Although the Colonials led throughout the game, they needed a late run in the closing minutes to seal the victory, as well as the conference championship.
Durojaye added another strong performance by recording a career best 14 rebounds to go along with her 10 points. Pace and Jones, the team's only seniors, enjoyed the spotlight of Senior Night and demonstrated why they've become two of the most decorated Colonials in team history. Pace finished the game with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Jones added 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists.
Despite being outshot by the Bobcats 48.9 percent to 33.8 percent, the Colonials were able to come away with the narrow victory, their fifth straight on the floor of the Sewell Center, thanks in large part to their turnover advantage. The girls forced 28 turnovers, their highest output of the season, and came away with 20 offensive rebounds, helping to secure their first NEC regular season championship since 2008.
The Colonial's season has been nothing short of impressive thus far, but it's fair to say it will not be complete without an NEC tournament championship and subsequent NCAA Tournament berth.
The Colonials will close out their regular season this weekend when traveling to Wagner and Mount St. Mary's, and the NEC Tournament is set to tip off on March 6.
